My concept: "classy club"
The vibes I bring in to discos, bars and private parties: a mix between energetic and classy, catchy & soulful.
When it all comes together,,, you wanna be there. .
My best experience is when people dance and let go when they simply enjoy the present moment, and don't want it to stop!
When someone stood up and began dancing on clutches once, I knew the magic was there.
Attention: I like to make people really, actually DANCE!! So I adapt to the dancefloor and play what I feel people need. And more!
Moving on, it's also the responsibility of the DJ to educate, and introduce new & fresh types of sounds to awe people. Or throw that forgotten track at the right moment – for revision!
So naturally I have a tendency to vary the genres and styles, and push it to become something sensational: a set to remember a great, memorable music session of many sensations. . with people cheering, jumping... worshipping!
“ Because it's not about how you do it, but why you do it. ” DJ Noir - It's All About House Music
Music Genre: generalist oriented electrohouse
A world-class clubbing session should keep the beats anchored in people's bodies and minds.
Lots of beats!!!
Dance music is best suited for that, thanks to its relentless rhythm and captivating melody. It can be both intense and classy, and allows experimentation with new sounds while keeping the catchy vibe going.
Overall the session is split into EDM chunks of increasing energy throughout the night (=> dynamic progression), with breaks of party music in-between: Pop, Rock, Disco, RnB, Latino, Oriental, some Slows, and let's GOOOOOO!
It's like the sweet sensation. If you keep on eating something sweet, you won't feel the sweetness as much after a while. But take a breather with something else, and then when you come back to the sweet stuff, you'll get its full intensity again!
RECAP:
Club music:
- Disco (1970s and 1980s)
- Dance (1990s til now)
- House (Fun House, Disco House, Latino House, Rocking House, Virginal House, Tribal...)
- Trance (Definitive, Dance-Trance & Tech-Trance)
- Electro (Minimal, Rounded, Play, Wicked, Electro-rap, Robot, SP...)
- Techno
Throughout the EDM ascent, I break the set at intervals with party music (Pop / Rock / RnB / Latino / Oriental / ...) depending on what's happening on the dancefloor.
My tracks are survivors, filtered many times over the years to only keep the fiercest: a lot of classics, but also many hidden and absolutely fabulous gems...
Anything that will make people go like this, really: |
Equipment - if need be
Pioneer CDJ players, Technics SL-1200 turntables (when there's a need for vinyl), Allen & Heath Xone:62 mixer
Nothing much apart from that: no power speaker or amp (but hi-fi ones available), small lighting but no lightening, no fog generator / frog generator / foam machine / mean machine / robots / gogos / aliens...
But I could sort something out with other suppliers if need be. (hem, for aliens, it's gonna have to be illegal aliens..!)
By the way, I like to also play CDs and sometimes vinyl records, to keep things authentic: I believe the DJ feel is also about manipulating and demonstrating the physical artefacts of music.
Spinning and showing off the material.
I mix track by track (no pre-made mix) so nobody knows what's coming next, me included!
The tracks mostly come in lossless formats (FLAC and WAV) for optimal quality.
